Punctuation

  • There is no space character before a full stop, exclamation mark or a colon.

Signature

  • If you developed a completely new article, you may chose to sign it.
    • No real need, that will look messy after time — the original author will be obvious by clicking on the "History" link at the top of each page/article. It also doesn't really "give credit where credit is due", because people may edit articles etc reasonably heavily, but people will see the original author's signature at the bottom. Signatures ought to really only be used for commenting on something, like I am doing here. Note the correct way of doing so is to type "--~~~~", that is, two hyphens followed by four tildes. MediaWiki will then convert the four tildes to your user account name (with a link to your user page), and will insert the date too. --M0CLW 15:56, 5 August 2006 (BST)

Screenshots

  • Currently, the text reads, "Use PNG or GIF format for the pictures. JPEG is normally not suitable for screen captures." Any particular reason for that comment? --M0CLW 15:56, 5 August 2006 (BST)
    • If you don't select the correct JPEG variant, pictures will interpolate and so the edges and corners of windows look

soft and tend to break up. There is a JPEG variant that will do (lossless) - but then file sizes tend to become rather large. JPEG was made for natural pictures not for graphics, GIF and PNG are better suited for screenshots. --Ben 17:12, 5 August 2006 (BST)
