Kenwood

Virtually, all Kenwood rigs are supported by Win-Test. They all use the same CAT command subset needed by Win-Test.

Kenwood rigs use by default:

  • Speed: 4800 Bauds
  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: None
  • Stop bits: 2

Models successfully tested :

  • TS 850S
  • TS 930S PIEXX (Tnx FM5BH)
  • TS 940S
  • TS 570DGE
  • (others are known to work, but not fully tested, e.g. TS-690, TS-450, TS-950SD, ...)

Icom

Virtually, all Icom rigs are supported by Win-Test. They all use the same CAT command subset.

Best results for Icom radios are usually achieved by ticking both the Don’t poll and Use CI-V-Transceive options. The band map then moves very smoothly while turning the VFO. Another option is to untag both Don’t poll and Use CI-V-Transceive.

  • IC 706
COM port set to 9600 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit. Tnx F6IFY
  • IC 706 MK II
  • IC 706 MK II G
  • IC 718
  • IC 725
  • IC 735
  • IC 737
  • IC 751
  • IC 756
  • IC 756 Pro
  • IC 756 Pro II
  • IC 761
  • IC 765
  • IC 775 (or IC 775 DSP)
COM port set to 1200 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit. Tnx EA3IN. (also succesfully tested up to 9600 bauds. I2WIJ)
  • IC 781
  • Icom generic: This setting can be used to connect an Icom rig not listed below. You need to set the Icom rig's address (found in the rig manual) in the wt.ini file in the [Interfaces] section. Please see WT.INI#Generic_ICOM_radio for more details.

Other supported Icom radios:

  • IC 7400
Use the Icom generic setting with hex address 66h and set COM port to 9600 bauds (also succesfully tested with 1200 and 19200 bauds and TRX set accordingly), 8 data bits, no parity, 2 stop bits. Tnx F8CRH
  • IC 746 PRO
In fact, the IC 7400 (above) is the European version of the IC 746 PRO. It uses the same hex address and should work with the same settings. Tnx F8CRH
  • IC 728
Use the Icom generic setting with hex address 38h and set COM port to 1200 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Tnx VK6NU
  • IC 910H
Use the Icom generic setting with hex address 60h and set COM port to 4800 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Works on all 3 bands (2m, 70 and 23 cm). Tnx F6BEE

Yaesu

  • FT 100
  • FT 1000 (D)
COM port set to 4800 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity, no flow control and 2 stop bits. Tnx F5FLN
  • FT 1000 MP (Mark V)
COM port set to 4800 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity, no flow control and 2 stop bits. Tnx FM5BH and F8CRH
  • FT 920
  • FT 990
COM port set to 4800 bauds, 8 data bits, no parity, no flow control and 2 stop bits. Tnx F6GOX

Others

  • Elecraft K2
    Use the Kenwood settings
  • TenTec Omni 6
Use the Icom generic setting, with 04h hex address, and set COM port to 9600 bauds (can be modified in TRX if needed), 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Tnx F6IFY
